TUH-leeListen

Tully started life as an Irish surname, anglicized from Ó Taithligh or Ó Maol Tuile, and today it's used as a neutral first name (pronounced TUH-lee) with a modern, free-spirited, boho feel. You may see it glossed online as meaning 'hillock, mound,' but that comes from a different root — the Irish place-name element 'tulach' — while the documented surname origin is separate and has no single fixed translation. If Tully appeals to you, it's the surname history and the sound doing the work, not a settled meaning.
