Pace is pronounced PAYS, and it works well as a name for a boy or a girl. It comes from an English surname with disputed roots — some trace it to a medieval byname for a child born at Easter, and it's often assumed to mean "peace," though surname historians say that link isn't as direct as it sounds. Either way, it's a short, modern name with an English surname behind it.
