Kanan is a name you may have seen described online as a variant of Canaan, said to mean 'promised land' — but we couldn't turn up a reliable source backing that up, so it's worth treating as unconfirmed rather than fact. If you're drawn to Kanan, it's one you can choose for its sound rather than for a settled backstory. It's also not a name with a long, obvious history behind it, so you won't find a tidy origin story waiting for you.
