Quillon

At a Glance: Name: Quillon – Origin: English (from the sword-hilt term 'quillon') – Gender: Boy – Pronunciation: KWIL-uhn

---

Quillon is pronounced KWIL-uhn, and it comes from the English word for the crosspiece on a sword hilt — the guard piece set above the blade. You may come across the idea that it means 'sword' or 'blade,' but that's not quite accurate: a quillon is specifically that crossguard, not the whole weapon, and there's no confirmed source linking the word to a given-name meaning. For parents drawn to the sound, it's a boy's name with that sword-hilt word as its plain backstory.
