Pronunciation

TRIN-ih-teeListen

Trinity is a modern English name, ultimately from the Latin "trinitas," carrying the meaning of the Christian Trinity — three persons in one God. It's often credited to The Matrix (1999), but that's not quite right: Trinity was already in use as a given name in the 1970s, decades before the film, which simply gave an existing name a boost. Pronounced TRIN-ih-tee, it's a neutral name with a romantic, storybook feel.
